Oxford Gardens Satellite Provision
Our Oxford Gardens Satellite Provision is an exciting new part of Ormiston Kensington Queensmill Academy, opening in September 2026 to provide specialist education for pupils with autism and complex needs. While our permanent Oxford Gardens building is being completed, pupils will begin their journey at our temporary Oakwood site, where they will benefit from the same high-quality support, structured routines and personalised approach that are central to OKQA. Our experienced team will focus on getting to know each child as an individual, building strong relationships and creating a calm, nurturing environment where communication, wellbeing, independence and confidence can flourish. The new Oxford Gardens site is currently expected to be completed by the end of the Autumn Term, after which pupils will transition gradually into a purpose-designed learning environment featuring specialist spaces, including a sensory room and body shop/soft play room. Families will be supported throughout every stage of the transition to ensure a smooth and positive experience for their child
The Oxford Gardens Satellite Provision will comprise two classes: one Key Stage 1 class and one Key Stage 2 class. Each class will be staffed by a Class Teacher, a HLTA and a team of Teaching Assistants to ensure pupils receive the individualised support they need to thrive. All teaching staff are employed by Ormiston Kensington Queensmill Academy and have experience supporting children with autism and additional needs. The provision will be carefully overseen by the Phase Leader for Satellite Provisions, to ensure the successful day-to-day running of the satellite. Pupils will also benefit from specialist support, including input from Speech and Language Therapy services. All staff receive specialist autism training and have access to ongoing professional development, ensuring that pupils benefit from high-quality, evidence-based practice in a supportive and nurturing environment.
Our Temporary Site
From September 2026, pupils will begin their placement in our temporary site at Ormiston Oakwood Satellite Provision, located on the same site as Avondale Park Primary School. OKQA will have exclusive use of its own floor, including a sensory space and dedicated teaching areas, enabling us to provide a calm, structured and supportive environment for our pupils until our permanent Oxford Gardens site is ready.
