Head of School's Welcome

Welcome to Ormiston Kensington Queensmill Academy. I am proud to serve as the Head of School at this wonderful academy dedicated to children and young people with autism and specific learning difficulties.

Having been part of the Queensmill community for thirteen years, I am thrilled to lead an Academy that places the young person and their family at the heart of everything we do. I invite you to explore our website and gain insight into the vibrant life at Ormiston Kensington Queensmill Academy.

Our purpose-built facilities provide a spacious, low-arousal learning environment equipped with excellent autism-specific resources, allowing us to effectively meet the diverse needs of our children and young people. Our highly differentiated curriculum emphasises a wide range of experiences, focusing on improving the mental health and well-being of our young people.

We are fortunate to have a dedicated, enthusiastic, and highly trained professional team committed to delivering the highest standard of holistic education. Our supportive and nurturing environment ensures that every young person feels safe and valued, with safeguarding being a top priority for all staff.

At Ormiston Kensington Queensmill Academy, we pride ourselves on our evidence-based practises, utilising autism-specific strategies such as TEACCH, SCERTS, Total Communication Approach and Sensory Integration.

To support our young people’s success, we actively engage with families and a network of professionals, including Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and social workers. This collaborative approach enables us to secure the best outcomes for every young person.

We also believe in empowering our parents and carers through training sessions and coffee mornings, ensuring they have the tools and knowledge to support their young person’s journey.

Ormiston Kensington Queensmill Academy values its connections with the wider community, fostering relationships through visits and partnerships with other schools.

I hope you find our website informative and inspiring. Should you wish to learn more or make an appointment, please do not hesitate to contact the academy office.

Thank you for visiting!

Warm regards
