Queensmill and Kensington Queensmill Schools join Ormiston Academies Trust

We are delighted to announce that two exceptional London specialist schools for autism, Queensmill School and Kensington Queensmill School, as well as their satellite provisions at Fulham Primary, Fulham Cross Academy and Avondale Primary, have officially joined Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT) as of 1 December.

This exciting new chapter sees our schools become part of a values-led organisation dedicated to inclusion and delivering high-quality education. Ormiston already operates 42 schools across the country, including three alternative provision settings in West London and a special school in Suffolk, our commitment to helping every child and young person thrive.

As part of this transition, our schools have adopted new names: Ormiston Queensmill Academy and Ormiston Kensington Queensmill Academy. These updates allow us to retain our strong community connections while reflecting our integration into the Ormiston family.

The decision to join OAT followed a period of collaboration and support between The Queensmill Trust (TQT) and Ormiston. Both organisations share a deep commitment to inclusion, ensuring a strong alignment of values that will enhance the support we can offer our pupils and staff.

Freddie Adu, Chief Executive Officer of The Queensmill Trust, said: “We are thrilled to officially join Ormiston Academies Trust. Over the past few months, we have worked closely with leaders across the Trust, creating a strong network of support for staff to benefit from Ormiston’s wide breadth of specialist provision and expertise.

“Leaders and staff are excited to continue sharing knowledge and working collaboratively to deliver exceptional outcomes for our pupils. I want to thank our pupils, staff, parents, and the wider community for their ongoing support as we begin this exciting new chapter.”

Tom Rees, Chief Executive Officer of Ormiston Academies Trust, added: “This is an exciting moment for Ormiston and Queensmill schools. We’ve already enjoyed working with children, parents, and staff and are deeply impressed by the schools’ expertise in specialist education. Their knowledge will enrich our Trust and benefit schools across the network as we continue to prioritise inclusion and deliver a high-quality education where every child can thrive.”

We are excited about the opportunities this partnership brings and look forward to continuing our work as part of the Ormiston family.

Cllr Catherine Faulks, Lead Member for Family and Children’s Services, said: “We are immensely proud of Kensington Queensmill School and the state-of-the-art services and resources it has brought into Kensington and Chelsea. The school gives children with special educational needs and disabilities a welcoming and inspiring space to thrive, while being conveniently located for our residents.

“In joining the Ormiston Academies Trust, Kensington Queensmill will continue to provide exceptional outcomes for its pupils with even more opportunities available to enrich their lives through shared resources and learning. We look forward to this exciting new chapter.”
